Frosted Lips, a Frozen Kiss

IMG_9966An acrylic painting I did in one sitting. It could use some work, but it has a lot of emotions from the time I painted it, and I no longer feel the same way therefore it feels wrong to go back in and further the detailing. I started this painting as a finger painting, thinking about how each person has a unique vibe and energy to them. Recently, an old friend who I had lost contact with due to unfortunate circumstances came back into my life and through that friend I’ve begun to feel balanced again. Yes this painting is the moments leading up to a kiss, but in reality it is supposed to be more of a representation of a connection on a deeper level, something akin to soul mates. What are you opinions on soul mates? Do you think everyone has one? I would love love love to hear your guys’ views. It’s a topic thats really quite fascinating.

If Life was an Indie Album Cover

If life was an Indie music styled album cover, full of abstract seemingly unrelated objects, laid-back original clothing, and an overall vibe that you just wanted to be part of, it would be a whole lot better. For this shoot, model Anabel Riggio, allowed me to drag her around with a ruck sack full of objects and pose her with them to put together a shoot that was creative, and limitless. The overall result have a summery vibe but don’t be fooled, it was freezing outside.

If you guys like these theres another set with different styles I’m itching to upload, I looovvveee feedback, so feel free to comment you opinions or favorite indie artists, or new ideas!

With love,

Anna-Jean

Touch of a Goddess

rae.anna.lips-nails

What girl in her right mind wouldn’t want to be compared to a greek goddess? Unless it was medusa, because lets face it that lady had some serious man hating issues not to mention unmanageable hair. That point aside… I knew when a dear friend of mine complimented my golden painted nails, saying they made me look like a goddess, it was by far one of the best compliments I have ever received and I loved the attention. (you know what they say about flattery)

Life can get boring and mundane, and even bright colors can begin to blur or wear on you, that’s why my latest and greatest new joy is to put little pops of sparkle in my day to day life in the form of gold. Gold painted nails, a few brass (gold colored) rings, a necklace or two, even incorporation gold toned eye shadows, can really add a new shine. Besides, gold is not a tarnished piece of silverware, gold demands attention and is quite eye catching.

The key is to not over do it. For instance, I would not wear brass rings and the gold nail polish at the same time. Use it lightly; let the accents speak for themselves. Don’t be intimidated, you are fierce and inside all of you is a Greek goddess waiting to be channeled and released. Let that gold sparkle ignite a new found confidence in you!goldmedal.closeuppennytalk.closeup

When I originally styled these two looks to go with the nail polishes “Gold Medal” by Sinful Colors and “Penny Talk” by Essie I wasn’t going to incorporate such bold make up, but I’m glad I took the risk with colored lipsticks and abstract eyeshadows. Below is a close up of the two outfits,

Haunted (Painting)

IMG_7288.JPG

This picture I painted over the last two weekends is done with acrylic paints. This is the first painting I’ve done in almost a year, so overall I’m happy with it. It’s abstract, a girl from my imagination with hair inspired by the jungle print from American Apparel. If you have any questions about techniques, paint types/color names, or want further information we’d love to see comments.
Lots of love,
Anna-Jean

Mix patterns, textures, seasonal clothes, anything really. Socks with sandals? Why not! Stripes and floral prints? Dress with button downs? Even stack and layer your jewelry! Its up to you lovelies!
